1. Where did you complete your foreign training from, and what was the topic of research?
- "I completed my FT from Nottingham Trent University, which was on 'Business
Models and Sentimental Analysis' for financial companies in the United
Kingdom."
2. Did you apply to multiple projects? Please elaborate on the different modes of
application processes, what all you apply in, and the differences in the selection process
of these projects.
- " I applied for three projects, One at the University of Warwick which was onsite.
Later on, I got selected for the project at Nottingham Trent University. "
3. What was your schedule during the Foreign Training? How much time did you spend
on the project per day?
- " I usually gave more than an hour for the project. I had to devote around six
hours a week to the project. Meanwhile I also had another internship in product
supply . So I worked in that along with preparation for the CDC. "
4. Did you do any additional projects or courses apart from academics to attain the Foreign
Training? If so, how did you manage them?
- "I did two projects previously, one on data and another on mechanical core. I also
did some self-projects on machine learning and a few courses on Coursera.
Overall, these were easy to manage if you showed consistency."
5. How should a student entirely unaware of the application process look for information
about foreign training?
- "One can get an overview of this through the portal of the International Relations
Cell and FTP. Necessary details about the project, along with the prerequisites,
are mentioned there. Students should explore and introspect if these projects
align with their field of interest."
6. Did Foreign Training clash with CDC? If yes, how did you handle both Foreign Training
and CDC simultaneously?
- "Yes, my FT did clash with CDC. Managing CDC interviews, tests, classes, and
internships was difficult, but I managed to do so. "
7. What role does foreign training play on one CV? Does it provide any extra benefit in the
future?
- "I got major insights into the field of research through this internship. I learned
how to write a good literature review, cite resources, and the process of
publishing a research paper. It was perfect for my CV and personal
development."
8. How can first-year students prepare for Foreign Training? Can you suggest any roadmap
to them?
- "First-year students should first try to do some basic courses on a platform such
as IIT Kharagpur followed by some self projects on Kaggle or Coursera or any
other platform.”
9. Does belonging to IIT Kharagpur provide any additional benefits for getting your FT?
- "Being in IIT Kharagpur exposed me to all the fields, whether research or
corporate. So IIT Kharagpur did play an essential role in my FT."
